Campbell Historic Museum and Ainsley House - Education Program at two Museums

Take a trip to Silicon Valley's past at the Campbell Historical Museum and at the historic Ainsley House. Both museums feature innovative exhibits, age appropriate tours, and hands-on sections where students can handle objects, allowing them to connect with days gone by.

 

Both Museum Programs:

•Focus on cultural themes of the Santa Clara Valley
• Allow students to experience history through different sensory activities
•Include hands-on artifacts
•Increase students’ knowledge about history and develop an appreciation for their heritage
•Meet the Californian History Social Science Standards

 
FYI for 2009/2010 school year - Fees for school programs will be $100 for groups of 20 or fewer students and $5 for each additional student. Fees for trunk rentals will be $60 per month.

Hands on History and History Detectives

Hands on History at the Campbell Historical Museum, a program for 2nd & 3rd graders, and History Detectives at the Ainsley House, a program for 3rd and 4th graders.

Scholarships Available!
The Campbell Historical Museum & Ainsley House Foundation has allocated scholarship funds for our programs. Schools can apply for program fee grants or transportation grants. Please contact Kerry Perkins at for a grant application. Grants awarded on a first come first serve basis.

Ohlone Trunks

Two Travelling Trunks available for monthly rental. Ideal for classrooms, home schools, scout troops, etc.

The Ohlone Trunk focuses on the first inhabitants of the Santa Clara Valley and offers insight into Language, Culture, Economy, Food and more. The Orchards and Canneries Trunk details the history of the Santa Clara Valley’s fruit producing and packing industry through the origins of orchards in the area to pioneer fruit canners such as JC Ainsley.

Each trunk contains a comprehensive teacher’s guide with information that meets the California History Social Science Standards and suggested activities, touchable artifacts, videos and more. Trunks are designed to enhance curriculum and/ or to extend a child’s learning about Santa Clara Valley’s past.

Monthly rental fee: $50. Rental period begins as first of the month and ends last day of the month

Fees:
$100 for groups of 20 or fewer students; $5 for each additional student. Each program has a different maximum student capacity: Hands-on-History (maximum 40 students) History Detectives (maximum 30 students). Teacher and parent helpers (8 maximum) are free.
