Archived 12/14/2009 - VTA Proposed Service Reduction Plan
Due to the continued decline in the economic conditions, VTA is proposing a service reduction plan for its bus and light rail systems. The following links will provide you information on VTA’s upcoming public meetings to discuss and obtain public’s input on the proposed service reduction plan.

Archived 12/04/2009 - Public Notice Section on Website
The City’s website now includes a new section for Public Notices! Clicking the blue “Public Notices” button on the right hand side of the page will display current and future notices to the community. These are notices for public hearings that are typically mailed to neighbors of a project or notices of community meetings.

Archived 12/04/2009 - Green Building Requirements
In December 2007, the City Council adopted the Tier 1 Green Building Recommendations of the Santa Clara County Cities Association. These recommendations included: adopt Build It Green and LEED as the green building standards of measure, require submittal of a green building checklist for all residential and commercial additions over 500 square feet and require all new municipal facilities over 5,000 to be LEED Silver. Beginning July 1, 2008, submittal of the green building checklists will be required.

Archived 12/04/2009 - Community Advisory Group Member Needed for Development of the San Jose/Santa Clara Water Pollution Control Plan Master Plan
The residents and businesses of eight cities in the South Bay are served by the San Jose/Santa Clara Water Pollution Control Plant, one of the most advanced wastewater treatment facilities on the West Coast. The City of San José operates the Plant on behalf of Santa Clara, Milpitas, Campbell, Cupertino, Los Gatos, Saratoga, and Monte Sereno and their respective sanitation districts.

Residents are being sought to serve on a Community Advisory Group that will participate in a three-year process to develop a Plant Master Plan, which has recently been launched to guide improvements to the Plant’s facilities, operations and land use over the next 30 years. If you are interested in being considered for membership on this group, please complete an Application Form and mail it to:

Archived 12/02/2009 - Recreation and Community Services Director Appointed
Community Center Manager Linda Klemczak has been appointed the permanent Recreation and Community Services Director for Campbell, City Manager Dan Rich announced today. Klemczak has been interim director since former director Claudia Cauthorn retired in December.

During National Pollution Prevention Week, several sites will be open around Santa Clara Valley to accept items that must be disposed of properly. One of these sites will conveniently be local, at Campbell Community Center on Wednesday, Sept. 23rd from 11 am to 2 pm.

Archived 09/28/2009 - Missing Campbell Man Found
Ross Abinanti, who had been reported missing on June 30, was found living in a dry creek bed in Saratoga over five miles from where he wandered off ten days ago.

Mr. Abinanti's disappearance prompted a outpouring of support and efforts throughout the community. Law Enforcement Agencies, volunteers, former students, and colleagues posted flyers, conducted daily searches and used the internet to help find Mr. Abinanti.

Mr. Abinanti was found by members of a little league all-star team and identified by Santa Clara County Deputies who responded to the call.

Mr. Abinanti is doing well overall. The Campbell Police Department thanks all of the allied agencies and community members for their support and assistance.


Archived 09/28/2009 - Campbell Has New Police Chief
Campbell’s City Manager “pinned” his new Police Chief, Greg Finch, on March 6, at a special pinning ceremony held at the Heritage Theatre. Chief Finch replaced former Police Chief Dave Gullo who retired in early February. First hired as a Police Officer in the Campbell Police Department in 1987 and promoted to Police Sergeant in 1996, Finch was later appointed Police Captain in 2006. The Police Department has a full-time and part-time staff of over 73 employees.

Downtown Campbell has a bright new look thanks to local artist Sonya Paz who donated her artistic talent and time to create eye catching artwork for new banners. Paz developed two different designs and color pallets to convey the message to "Shop with Us" and "Dine with Us" and support our downtown community.

Shopping in Campbell not only makes sense, it literally makes “cents” for Campbell. One cent of every taxable dollar spent in Campbell stays in Campbell funding public services like police, fire and parks.

West Nile Virus has been discovered in the City of Campbell. Santa Clara County Vector Control has plans to fog the City of Campbell "areas of concern". Archived 09/28/2009 - Statement of Values - Adopted
There was an official signing event to commemorate the completion of the City’s new “Statement of Values” document. The event was held Tuesday, May 30, 2006, in the Campbell City Council Chambers, 70 North First Street, Campbell.

Stakeholders, Commissioners and Advisory Board Members voluntarily signed the “inaugural” document at the May 30 event as a demonstration of their understanding and agreement with the values, and commitment to follow them as they conduct their official duties.

Archived 09/28/2009 - Ainsley Park Enhancements
The small, remodeled, pocket park adjacent to Downtown Campbell's light rail tracks features new landscaping, a built-in seat wall, and public Art  that incorporates designs from Campbell's agricultural heritage. Terra-cotta pavers defined the plaza area with a curved seat wall highlighted by copper plaques in-set into the concrete base. The 14 foot tall steel public art sculpture, designed by artist Glen Rogers, titled "Beacon," has five massive laser-cut panels that are curved to which simulate a lantern. At night the Beacon is lit from below, along with other ambient lighting to facilitate use of the park on warm summer evenings.

The next time you’re Downtown, please stop by this beautiful facility and enjoy its new amenities.
