Public Works - Bicycle Advisory Committee
The City of Campbell's Bicycle Advisory Committee (BAC) is comprised of five members who either live or work in Campbell and are appointed by the City Council in response to a Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) requirement that cities establish bicycle advisory committees in order to remain eligible for Transportation Development Act (TDA) funds. Established in 1994, the City's BAC meets on a bimonthly basis to provide guidance to City staff and the Council in the development of bicycle policies and programs, including review and approval of all applications for TDA funds administered by the Valley Transportation Authority (VTA).
The BAC's accomplishments include approving the concept of bike lanes and sidewalks along Westmont Avenue, and approving grant applications for installing bike lanes on Union Avenue (a cross-county bikeway) and widening the East Campbell Avenue Bridge over Los Gatos Creek.  The BAC provided input for the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority's update of the Countywide Bicycle Plan.  The BAC also hosted an information booth at the 2007 Oktoberfest & 2008 Boogie on the Bayou and approved the City of Campbell Bicycle Facilities Map.
