Fence Guide

How to guide on fences, walls, lattice and screens.


Any fence, wall, lattice or screen that is three and a half feet tall or less may be allowed in all zoning districts.

A fence, wall, lattice or screen that is six feet tall or less may be allowed in all zoning districts as follows:

Interior lot

Front yard: No closer than fifteen feet from the front property line.
Side yards: Allowed up to and along the property line, except for the required fifteen-foot front yard setback.
Rear yard: Allowed up to and along the property line.

Front yard: No closer than fifteen feet from the front property line.

Side Yard:
Allowed up to and along the property line, except for the required fifteen foot front yard setback.

Side Yard:
Allowed up to and along the property line, except for the required fifteen foot front yard setback.

Rear Yard:
Allowed up to and along the property line.

Corner lot

Front yard: No closer than fifteen feet from the front property line.
Interior side yard: Allowed up to and along the property line, except for the required fifteen-foot front yard setback.
Street side yard: No closer than five feet from the street property line and not within the triangular area formed by measuring thirty feet along the front and street side property lines along the right-of-way from their "extended" intersection and connecting these two points.
Rear yard: Allowed up to and along the property line.

Front Yard:
No closer than fifteen feet from the property line.

Interior Rear Yard:
Allowed up to and along the property line, except for the required fifteen foot frontyard setback.

Rear yard:
Allowed up to and along the property line.

Street side yard:
No closer than five feet from the street property line and not within the triangular area formed by measuring thirty feet along the front and street side property lines along the right-of-way from their "extended" intersection and connecting these two points.

Driveways

No fence wall, lattice or screen over three and a half feet shall be allowed within the triangular area formed by measuring ten feet along the street property line and ten feet along the driveway from their "extended" intersection and connecting these two points.
