Requirements

Available Information
Developers that create or replace 10,000 SF or more of impervious surface are required to meet the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Stormwater Runoff Program and permit forms as indicated on the attached documents:
Conditions of approval for development projects include the installation and maintenance of Best Management Practices (BMPs) for site design and stormwater treatment, which must be designed per approved numeric sizing criteria. General guidance on the selection and implementation of BMPs and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans can be found on the California Stormwater Quality Association website and Santa Clara Valley Urban Runoff Pollution Prevention Program.

Each development project mandated to implement stormwater treatment will also require a Certification of Engineered Stormwater Treatment for New and Redevelopment Projects. The Certification of Engineered Stormwater Treatment for New and Redevelopment Projects may be obtained at the Public Works Department at City Hall or on this website.

Owners of properties with treatment BMPs will also be required to certify on-going operation and maintenance. For more information, please contact Public Works Engineering at (408) 866-2150 or send an email.
